Deer Creek Canyon
Two hundred feet of falling water creates gale-force winds near the Colorado. These winds blow jumpers away from the falls, which are far too forceful to approach.
Deer Creek Canyon is truly awesome above the falls. Hikers have to be especially careful when traversing the edge in the first two photos -- lest they fall into the beautiful but dangerous crevasse in the third photo.
One mile up from the Colorado is an enchanting mini-falls. Guide Steve shows the way in the first photo. Group explores it in the second photo. In the third photo, Patrick is stuck -- can't go forward, can't go back. Eventually, he drops into the pool, and swims back into the cave behind the falls.
Two miles up from the Colorado one finds "The Source." A hiker is behind the falls in the first photo. Tom and Gordon take turns with the camera in the next two.
The Source of the Source (looking up into the waterfall).
Prickly-pear cactus in purple bloom along the trail on the way back down.
