About Our Trip
The linked pages document our white-water rafting trip on the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon (Arizona, USA) on August 1-8, 1999. We joined a trip already in progress by hiking down the Bright Angel Trail from the south rim of the canyon, and boarding rafts near Phantom Ranch. On the last day, we helicoptered out from Whitmore Wash -- after rafting more than 100 miles on the Colorado and hiking many superb side canyons.
The trip was organized by Wilderness River Adventures (headquartered in
Page, Arizona), who did a superb job in all respects. The guides were highly
competent, fun, and caring. Mike, our head guide, was celebrating his 200th
trip down the Colorado.
